Hello Bloggers, I am a freshman at the Indiana University of
Pennsylvania Punxsutawney campus. The branch of Indiana I attend is way smaller
than the main campus of IUP which holds about 13,000 students and my campus
only holds about 200 students. The classrooms
at my campus are a great size. There are about thirty to forty students in each
class.
College classrooms are mostly lecture based and you are expected to take
notes. Taking notes is key to success in college but when taking notes you
should know what to write down. Write down key points in the lecture and
elaborate if it is possible. To get the most out of a college class you should
take notes, then after class review your notes individually and also compare
them with a peer to make sure you didn’t miss any key facts. It is also a great
idea to meet up with your professor at least once a week because it will give
them the idea that you care about your grades and also your future.
When it comes to note taking I know some students take notes
on their computer and others take hand written notes. Personally I take hand
written notes. I find it easier to focus and review compared to notes taken on a
computer. According to the article, research shows computers are a distraction.
It is also a known fact that writing longhand notes is the best method to use
when you are processing information. I recommend taking written notes because in
the long run it will benefit your processing and your review.
